From A to Double D

From A to Double D

Neev is currently in rehearsals for Moxie Arts’ production of award-winning play, From A to Double D written by Mandy Murphy.

Moxie Arts is a female-led production company that aspires to produce work written by women, that touch upon themes that you don’t often hear about from their male counterparts. Every season they bring in female playwrights/directors to work on these original pieces and then putting them up all over NYC.

Neev is having a blast working with this wonderful, passionate, hard-working artistic team. Every rehearsal is an absolute joy and he is having a blast exploring the character of Jacob, a nerd with a great heart.

Q: Why should people come see From A to Double D?

A: People should come for so many reasons! First off, it’s very entertaining. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will constantly be engaged due to its interactive nature. In addition to that our wonderful playwright, Mandy, has touched on so many universal themes regarding growing up that I’m sure everyone in the audience can relate to. Whether it’s fitting in, dealing with loss, or love, the themes throughout this play are undeniably relevant. After all, our youth is what shapes us into the people we are today. And I’m sure that everyone will be able to see a bit of themselves on stage and maybe even help them laugh at their younger selves a bit. Hopefully it will bring about awareness on the importance of thriving through life as opposed to just surviving it.

“We believe in telling stories that are audacious - difficult, out of the norm, bold and unapologetic. We engage our audiences with challenging material because we know that change begins with an encounter - and we want our encounters to be brave and audacious.” -Moxie Arts

“We believe in stories that highlight communities different than our own - because of this, we partner every show with a community group or nonprofit that specifically serves the communities whose stories we tell. We host talk-backs and mixers specifically for these organizations to highlight their mission and bring a firsthand account of these stories to our audience.” -Moxie Arts
