Keeping busy during Covid

Neev was lucky to stay very busy and be a part of several projects, some digitally, and some socially-distanced over the Covid-19 pandemic when most productions were shut down. From audio plays, staged readings to student films, here’s a recap!

Bismillah (Audio Play)

WAYWARD VOICES : “Our initiative is to produce work by and for BIPOC Artists. “

Wayward Voices is a space to amplify, uplift, and empower BIPOC artists. Our goal is to produce work that inspires and activates our artists now and our artists to come. Let this be our a jump to produce work that reflects the truth of our world, and the many stories ready to be told.

Neev is excited to be playing Darius Shirazi in this original audio play by Nakisa Aschtiani.

Opening the inaugural season of Wayward Voices is Bismillah, Or in the Name of God by Nakisa Aschtiani. Based in Laguna Beach, CA, Bismillah tells the story of long-time Iranian-American friends questioning their beliefs and fighting for change after a bar shooting changes their lives forever. Playwright, Aschtiani poses the question, “is it ever too late to love unconditionally?” Director Ani Marderosian is at the helm of the production. Putting the story and voices of the characters at the forefront, Marderosian and the cast reimagine the stage play as a radio play.

Much Ado about Nothing (Virtual Production)

July 10th

“Neev is very excited to be cast in the leading role of Claudio in Shakespeare's comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

This play was originally supposed to be staged live in a theatre as part of Classic on the Rock's annual Summer of Shakespeare series, but due to the Covid outbreak, it had to be transitioned into a virtual production. Even confined within the realm of virtual theatre, Shakespeare's words are still just as layered and relevant."

Mission Statement: At Classics on the Rocks, we believe that just as whiskey doesn't need anything more than rocks to tame its bite, Shakespeare doesn't need fancy concepts, modernizations, frilly costumes, or big sets to make it relatable. All you need are talented actors who trust the text and tell the story. It's classics served simply on the rocks. Our mission is to create a warm, friendly environment where actors and audience can come together and experience classical theatre in an easily accessible, and engaging way. With Shakespeare as our foundation, we bring the timeless themes of classic works that have defined and redefined humanity to life through intimately staged productions and acting workshops.
